DESCRIPTION
If the Lamborghini Miura was the start of the supercar era and inspired Japan’s car-loving youth in the 1970’s, the Ferrari F40 ended it and opened the door to the next generation when it was launched in 1987. The 1970’s supercar monocoque subframe and midship skeleton was enhanced with the exquisite flowing form of Pininfarina’s Leonardo Fioravanti body design using the latest lightweight materials such as carbon fiber and aluminum that weighed only 1,100kgs. With feedback coming from the Gr.B and Gr.C racing scenes, 478㎰ / 58.5kg-m was able to be extracted from the V-8 3-liter twin-turbo to deliver top speeds of 324km/h. The F40 is also recognized as the last model that its famous founder, Enzo Ferrari, approved for market.
